Romania-born Alwin Poiana grew up in Germany, studied Economics and graduated with a Masters in that field. As an autodidact in photography he started to work in the underground club- and fashion scene of Amsterdam. Since 2013 he collaborates with International Choreographic Arts Center (ICK) and more currently with Ballet National de Marseille (BNM). The work of Poiana is often described as aesthetic raw.
